About Me

Hi I'm Dana.   I am an outdoors person and have been all my life.  I was a tomboy growing up and spent a lot of time riding bikes, climbing trees, wading the creek and exploring.   I retired from a long career in nursing, and I do not miss it.    I have been married to my husband for nearly forty years.   He is my best friend and partner in crime.    We have two children, a red haired daughter and a dark haired son.   Both are married and have given us four grandkids total.    We are a close family.

I began blogging around 2003 and have been using this platform since 2011.    I have enjoyed it and still do.  I love hearing from readers.   I have formed some lasting friendships because of my blog.
I have been blessed.     If you are here you are seeing the second incarnation of my blog, but it is only because there are limits to what can accumulate on one blog on Google.    I have left some things the same because if it ain't broke don't fix it!    I have made some changes to things.  It is a work in progress a lot like me.   I am a Christian, but a sinner saved by grace.

Other interests I have will show up on here now and then.  I love history and stories.
I like to cook.  I make homemade remedies.   I am a very artistic, creative person in many respects.

I paint, draw, play piano, like all kinds of different music.   I like animals and have two cats.

I'm trying to grow old gracefully, but continue to fight the good fight.  I'm not going to give up and say "This is it. This is just how its going to be."  I spend a lot of time in the mountains of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina.  I like the beach as well as the mountains.  I like to travel.  Now and then I will go out west and I include those trip reports here as well.

Below: a photo of me couched out one Winter morning with my cat Sophie.   She has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
